Time and attendance
Employees clock in and out, and every entry is stored as part of their attendance record.
We built an employee management app for a multi-location restaurant business, so staff clock in, see their tasks and clock out from their phones while managers and the owner track attendance and task completion across every site.
Built for a restaurant owner running several locations with staff on different shifts.
Restaurant and hospitality. Client and project names are kept confidential.
From manual checks to one system
Running one restaurant means knowing who turned up and whether the opening jobs got done. Running several means trying to know that for sites you are not standing in. The owner relied on managers checking in person and passing updates along, which made it hard to see the real picture.
We built a restaurant employee and task management system where staff sign in and out, see the work assigned to them and mark it done. Managers review that activity, and the owner gets one dashboard with attendance, lateness and task completion over time.
Each location ran its own way. Whether staff arrived on time, and whether the day's tasks were finished, was something a manager had to see for themselves and then report.
For the owner this meant little history to look back on. Spotting a pattern of lateness or missed work at one site took conversations rather than records.
Arrival and leaving times were not reliably recorded
Task completion was confirmed by word of mouth
Each location tracked staff differently
The owner had little visibility of sites they were not at
There was no attendance or task history to review
Managers spent time chasing updates instead of acting on them
The aim was simple to state: make attendance and task execution something the system records, so managers and the owner can trust what they see without walking the floor.
Questions we worked through
We built employee accounts with role-based access, clock-in and clock-out, and task lists tied to each employee. Managers oversee and review their staff's activity, and the owner's dashboard brings attendance, lateness and task completion from every location together with date-based and monthly reporting.
Employees clock in and out, and every entry is stored as part of their attendance record.
Tasks are assigned to employees, who see their own list and mark items complete.
Managers review employee activity, attendance and task completion for the staff they look after.
Staff, tasks and records are organised across every restaurant location in one system.
The owner sees attendance, lateness and task completion for the whole business in one place.
Date-based and monthly reports show attendance history and task completion history over time.
Every shift follows the same path, from sign-in to the owner's report.
The employee logs in and clocks in at the start of their shift.
Their assigned tasks for the shift are listed in front of them.
The employee marks each task done as they finish it.
Clocking out closes the attendance record for the shift.
The manager checks attendance and task completion and follows up on exceptions.
The owner views attendance, lateness and task history across locations by date or month.
The same records serve staff on the floor, managers on site and the owner looking across every location.
Staff sign in on their phone and see the tasks assigned to them for that shift.
Tasks are marked complete as they are done, and managers can see progress and follow up on anything missed.
Clocking out closes the record, and the owner sees attendance, lateness and task completion over time.
Role-based access means each person sees what they need for their part of the operation.
Signs in, sees assigned work, completes tasks and signs out at the end of the shift.
Monitors assigned staff, reviews attendance and tasks, and follows up on anything missed.
Views all locations, inspects attendance and task history, and spots lateness, missed work and trends.
Each employee has their own account, with access set by their role.
Staff record the start and end of their shift directly in the system.
Tasks are assigned to individuals and shown on their own list.
Employees mark work complete so progress is recorded, not reported.
Managers oversee and review the attendance and task activity of their staff.
Every restaurant location runs inside the same system and the same routine.
Attendance history makes late arrivals visible to managers and the owner.
Attendance and task completion history can be reviewed by date range or by month.
Attendance and task execution moved from manual checks to records the whole management chain can rely on.
Before
After
The owner can now see how every location is running without being there. Managers review records instead of chasing updates, and staff know exactly what is expected of them each shift.
